On July 22, 2021, the National Civilian Police illegally detained five former FMLN officials. Despite no evidence of wrongdoing having been presented, they are being held in prison under a pre-trial detention order.
The political persecution continued on September 9 with the arrest of eight others from previous FMLN administrations, including the former Minister of Public Security. Is it a surprise that these arrests came on the heels an exposé of the Bukele administration's cover-up of his own Director of Prisons negotiating with gang leaders?
The Bukele administration is increasingly targeting critics with arbitrary arrests, including Mario Gómez, an IT expert who has been outspoken against the Bitcoin law. (Gómez was quickly released)
It is crucial we amp up the pressure to let Salvadoran authorities know that there is international opposition!
Sign below and help us get to 1000 signatures today!
Collected signatures will be shared with Committee of Family Members of Political Prisoners of El Salvador (COFAPPES) so they can show the Bukele administration that the international community has their backs!

¡Firma aquí y ayúdanos a llegar a 1000 firmas hoy mismo!
