Stop Bukele's Power Grab: Cut U.S. Security Funds to El Salvador
On May 1, their first day in office, legislators from Bukele's party illegally voted to remove Supreme Court magistrates and the Attorney General in a blatant move to eviscerate any institutional opposition to Bukele's agenda.
CISPES rejects Bukele's assertion that this is "not the purview" of the international community.
We remain steadfast in our solidarity with the organized popular and social movements who are denouncing this as a coup.
We call on the Biden Administration and Congress to immediately restrict police, military and other funding that continue to prop up this regime.
